A weekly early therapy intervention clinic is run in a neighbouring rural community. The aim of the clinic is to identify children with disabilities in order to start therapy as early as possible. Parents/carers are educated on their children’s condition and taught basic ideas for stimulating normal development and positioning to avoid deformities developing.

  •  As the only therapy service visiting the area the clinic keeps us busy ordering wheelchairs, applying for disability grants, and answering the therapy needs of the entire community regardless of age!

  • As the need and volunteers arise, courses are run training interested volunteers in basic community rehabilitation. The course is aimed at being able to identify common disabilities and educate parents on intervention. Volunteers are also educated in making assistive devices using cardboard (alternative paper technology) and making toys out of recyclable rubbish.
